The short answer
Neither can be named better from public evidence. Both run integrated Class 11 and 12 programmes with JEE and NEET batches, both advertise top ranks, and each has been publicly challenged over who may claim a rank. The campus and batch you will actually attend is the real choice.

Introduction
Narayana and Sri Chaitanya sell nearly the same thing: an integrated Class 11 and 12 junior college with Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) coaching built into the timetable. Both also advertise top rank-holders. That is where most comparisons go wrong, because the adverts are the loudest evidence and the least reliable.
In June 2026 the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) ordered Narayana Educational Institutions to pay ₹8 lakh over JEE Advanced (the second stage of the JEE) 2024 adverts that left out which course each rank-holder took (LiveLaw). In 2018 the two groups argued in public over which of them could claim the same JEE rankers from a joint batch (Deccan Chronicle).
Below: how to read a rank advert, what to get in writing from any campus, and when each group is the right place to start.
Key takeaways
- No public evidence makes Narayana or Sri Chaitanya the better group. The campus and batch your child will sit in is the real decision.
- Rank adverts cannot settle it. Check overall versus category rank, course type, campus and batch before you believe any "AIR 1", where AIR means all-India rank.
- Get fee, hostel, scholarship, second-year and refund terms in writing from each campus, then compare the quotes side by side.
- We list branches of both groups and charge students nothing to browse, compare, enquire or review.
Narayana vs Sri Chaitanya: which is better for JEE and NEET?
The history explains why brand-level claims are shaky. ChaiNa was a joint batch run by the two groups. In May 2018, as the groups split with one final combined batch still to pass out in 2019, Sri Chaitanya said four of the top five JEE rankers were its students, while Narayana said it had every right to publicise the results because the batch ran on its schedules. Both threatened legal action (Deccan Chronicle, 6 May 2018).
Each group's own site lists its top ranks. Narayana lists a NEET 2026 AIR 1 and JEE Advanced AIRs 5, 6, 13 and 15 (Narayana). Sri Chaitanya lists NEET AIRs 3, 5 and 6 and JEE Advanced AIRs 4, 9 and 10 (Sri Chaitanya). A list of top ranks shows that a group has had high-ranking students. It does not show what a particular campus or batch produces.
How do you read a Narayana or Sri Chaitanya rank advert?
Read every rank advert against seven tests before you let it influence the choice. The first four come from what the CCPA found in Narayana's JEE Advanced 2024 adverts: course details were concealed, classroom and distance-learning students were not distinguished, category-rank disclaimers were in extremely small, illegible type, and the "not enough space" defence was rejected (Storyboard18, LiveLaw). The CCPA also ordered the adverts stopped and a compliance report within 15 days. Tests five to seven are our own additions, as is the pass-or-fail wording.
An advert that fails tests 2 and 6 tells you nothing about the batch you would join. Ask the campus for the course type and campus of each rank-holder you care about, and ask them to put it in writing.

- 2. Which course?
- Pass
- Classroom, distance learning programme (DLP) or online is printed beside each name
- Fail
- Names, photos and ranks with no course type
- Test
- 3. Which exam and year?
- Pass
- Exam and year are stated for each name
- Fail
- Mixed years or exams under one banner
- Test
- 4. Is the disclaimer readable?
- Pass
- Same prominence as the claim, online as well as in print
- Fail
- Tiny type
- Test
- 5. Is any student counted twice?
- Pass
- Each student appears once
- Fail
- The same student under two ranks
- Test
- 6. Which campus and batch?
- Pass
- Campus and batch are named
- Fail
- Only the group's name appears
- Test
- 7. Is it the course you are buying?
- Pass
- The advert's course type matches the batch you are being sold
- Fail
- Results from a different programme
What should a Narayana or Sri Chaitanya campus put in writing before you pay?
A campus should confirm eight items in writing before you pay anything, because fees, hostel and scholarship terms are set per campus, stream and batch. Take these to each campus you shortlist, then run the figures through our fee comparison calculator. For the wider fee picture see our guides to JEE coaching fees and NEET coaching fees.
The refund row matters. In 2018 a consumer forum ordered a Sri Chaitanya branch in Hyderabad to refund a ₹10,250 advance fee, paid in 2013 to reserve a seat, with 24% annual interest, plus ₹10,000 compensation and ₹1,000 costs (Deccan Chronicle, 12 February 2018). That is one case from 2018, so it shows why to ask about advances, not how any campus behaves today.
Regulators also act on campuses. In March 2023 the Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education cancelled the affiliation of one Sri Chaitanya campus, in Narsingi, Hyderabad, after a student's death (The News Minute). Ask whichever campus you shortlist which board it is affiliated with, and visit it before you decide.

Why use Online Coaching 4u to compare Narayana and Sri Chaitanya campuses?
Use us while you are still choosing between campuses: our listings cover branches of both groups in places such as Vijayawada, Kolkata and Pune, and you can filter by exam, city, study mode and verification status. Profiles can show courses, location, establishment year, ratings, reviews and a separate Google rating, and reviews from third-party sources are listed separately from those collected on our platform. Our guide to checking a coaching refund policy covers exit terms before you pay.
When might Narayana or Sri Chaitanya be the right place to start?
Go straight to a group's campus in three narrow cases.
- You have shortlisted one campus. Only that campus can give you the batch timetable, the seat position and the written fee for the batch you want. Our listings for these campuses show location, exam focus and study mode; confirm fees with the campus.
- You want a group's own scholarship or admission test. Those tests are run by the group, not by a directory, and any discount they give must be confirmed by the campus in writing.
- You can visit a class. Sit in a regular session of your intended batch. A directory cannot replace that, and we advise it for every institute.
Our verdict
Choose Online Coaching 4u to compare campuses of both groups, which it lists next to other institutes and which is free for students.
How we compared
We compared the figures each group states on its own site as of October 2026, along with court, regulator and press reports on rank adverts, refunds and affiliation. Online Coaching 4u is a directory, not a coaching institute, and was not one of the two compared, though we list branches of both groups. We do not rate either group. The seven tests and the eight written-quote items are our recommendation, not an official standard.
