BPSC Coaching: Seven Checks Before You Pay
BPSC coaching is worth paying for only after seven written checks, chiefly the exam cycle, an access end date that survives a postponed prelims, the refund rule and the all-in fee.
Updated 14 Oct 2026

Key takeaways
- Run all seven checks in writing before paying for BPSC coaching, starting with the exam cycle, the access end date, the refund rule and the all-in fee.
- Of the two 72nd-cycle foundation batches we checked, Physics Wallah's (PW) was ₹1,999 and Khan Global Studies' (Khan GS) last-published price was ₹4,500 (registration closed). Validity and refund terms carry more risk than the fee gap, which is our judgement.
- No test series can credibly promise questions that match BPSC papers; BPSC called such claims false in August 2025.
- A free trial class or one low-cost online batch is a low-risk first step. Classroom spending can wait until you know you need it.

The 72nd Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Combined Competitive Examination was announced with 1,230 posts in May 2026, through an advertisement on the Commission's website. Its first stage, the preliminary test (prelims), has since been postponed twice, and as of October 2026 no new date has been announced.
That changes what a sensible purchase looks like. A batch sold with access until a fixed month was priced for a calendar that has already moved. Pages for earlier exam cycles also stay online with their prices, so buying the wrong batch is easy. A fee comparison alone cannot tell you whether your lectures will still be open when the exam finally happens.
This page gives seven checks to run before paying anyone, each with a clear pass or fail. It also compares two published online batch prices, shows how to test a batch's access period against an uncertain exam date, and says when self-study is enough. All dates and prices are as of October 2026.
What should you check before paying for BPSC coaching?
Run seven tests, each with a clear pass or fail, and get the answers in writing (a message or email counts). If a provider will not answer in writing, treat that as a fail.
Which exam cycle is the batch for?
Pass: the batch name says 72nd or 73rd, matching the exam you will sit. Fail: no cycle is named, or it is an earlier cycle. Pages for finished cycles stay online. The Khan GS 71st BPSC Batch III page still shows ₹4,500, classes from 27 February 2025 and a 31 March 2025 registration deadline.
Which stages does the batch cover?
Pass: the course page lists prelims, the mains (the written second stage) and the interview as separate inclusions, including answer-writing practice for mains. Fail: "complete package" with no list. Providers sell prelims-only and integrated batches as different products, as PW's offer page shows.
How long does access last if BPSC moves the exam again?
Pass: access is written as a calendar date, with a written promise to extend if BPSC reschedules. Fail: access counted from a fixed month, or an end date with no extension clause. The next sections show how to test this.
Is the refund rule in writing before payment?
Pass: you have the refund conditions and deadline in writing. Fail: no answer, or "no provision". PW's SARV Saksham page says there is no refund once the course is purchased, so use the free classes first. Our guide to getting coaching refund terms in writing covers what to ask.
What is the all-in fee?
Pass: one total figure including Goods and Services Tax (GST), books, test series, mains answer-checking and mock interviews. Fail: "plus taxes" or add-ons quoted later. Ask a classroom institute for a written all-in quote before comparing it with online prices, and put the quotes side by side in our coaching fee comparison calculator.
Does the provider promise questions that match BPSC?
Pass: no such promise. Fail: any claim that practice questions mirror the real paper. In an advisory of 19 August 2025, BPSC called such claims baseless and commercially motivated, and said papers are multi-set, drawn at random from an official question pool.
Can the results claim be traced?
Pass: named selections with year, rank and the exact course each person took. Fail: a total such as "selections" with no names, or results that came from a free test rather than the paid course. A big number tells you the institute is large, not that the course works.

How much does online BPSC coaching cost in India?
Of the two 72nd-cycle foundation batches we checked, PW's was ₹1,999 and Khan GS's last-published price was ₹4,500, a price that no longer applies because registration has closed. Online Coaching 4u publishes this page. We are a directory, not a coaching provider, so none of these batches is ours and this is not a ranking.
| Batch | Listed price | Price shown | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₹5,999 | ₹1,999 | Until 30 March 2027 | |
| ₹9,999 | ₹4,500 (last published, no longer on sale) | Until 30 December 2026 (page also states 18 months' validity); registration ran 2 June to 14 September 2025 and has closed |
Our arithmetic: PW's price is ₹1,999 ÷ ₹5,999, about one-third of list (roughly 67% off). Khan GS's is ₹4,500 ÷ ₹9,999, about 45% of list (the page states 55% off). Treat "listed" prices as a marketing anchor and compare the price shown. PW's first three classes are free before enrolment, which is a cheap way to test teaching style before a no-refund purchase.
Two prices from two providers do not make a market range, so do not read this as "what BPSC coaching costs". The fee gap here is under ₹3,000; the access dates and refund terms differ far more in what they can cost you.
Why does the missing 72nd prelims date change which batch to buy?
Because access that ends on a fixed date can run out before the exam is held. The prelims was first planned for July 2026, moved to 25 October 2026, and was postponed again in early October 2026 with no replacement date. The revised date will appear first on the BPSC exam calendar.
Use this model (ours, not an official figure):
Months of access you need = months until prelims + months from prelims to mains + months from mains to interview.
BPSC has not published 72nd dates, so the gaps are assumptions. Take them from the previous cycle's entries on the BPSC exam calendar, and replace them with the real dates once BPSC announces them.
Worked example, with our assumptions: prelims at the end of January 2027, a result two months later, mains five months after the result and the interview three months after mains. That puts the interview around November 2027, so you need access until then.
- PW's batch ends 30 March 2027. It covers the prelims and about two months after, then stops roughly eight months before the interview. It fails the access check as written.
- Khan GS's batch ends 30 December 2026. With the prelims undated, any date after that means access ended before the exam, so it fails the calendar-date check. Registration is closed, so it cannot be bought anyway.
If BPSC announces earlier dates, the result changes; rerun the sum with the real dates. This is why validity and refund terms matter more than a price difference of a few thousand rupees.

Is coaching necessary for the BPSC exam, or is self-study enough?
For most first-time candidates, self-study plus one low-cost online batch is enough to start, and a classroom course is a later decision. This is our recommendation, not a rule.
The order we would follow:
- Read the official syllabus and solve previous years' papers before buying anything.
- Take a free trial class. PW's SARV Saksham page offers its first three classes free.
- Buy one online foundation batch that passes the seven checks.
- Pay for classroom coaching only if you need fixed hours and peers, and you hold an all-in quote and refund terms in writing.

How can Online Coaching 4u help you compare BPSC coaching institutes?
We list coaching institutes so you can compare them before you enquire. You can browse by exam (including Indian Administrative Service and Provincial Civil Services, IAS/PCS), city, study mode and verification status, and send an enquiry or callback request to the institutes you choose, at no cost to you. We do not teach, run classes or take course payments, so you confirm fees, batches, refund terms and duration with the provider directly.
A profile can show courses, location, establishment year and ratings, with Google ratings shown separately. A Verified badge means the institute shared its details and we checked them against trusted online sources. It confirms details, not results.
Winners Academy lists IAS/PCS and BPSC classroom coaching in Gaya. Its profile shows a rating of 5.0 from 335 reviews collected on a third-party review site, not by us. Its details come from public sources rather than from the institute, so run the seven checks before you pay. Online IAS/PCS listings in our directory include ClearIAS, which carries the Verified badge, and Chahal Academy in Gorakhpur, whose details come from public sources. Compare IAS/PCS coaching institutes by mode and verification status.

Frequently asked questions
We do not rank institutes, so compare listings by mode, Verified status and ratings in our coaching directory, then run the seven checks. Choose the institute that gives you the batch cycle, access end date and all-in fee in writing.
BPSC announces the date on its own website, in its exam calendar and notices. News sites report it afterwards. Check the BPSC website before acting on any date quoted by a coaching institute.
