Computer Course After 12th: Match Stream, Then Check Cost
A computer course after 12th should match your stream and goal: Tally accounting for commerce, a computer applications diploma for office work, a degree for technical careers, then a cost check.
Updated 10 Oct 2026

Key takeaways
- Choose by the job you want next: Tally Prime (accounting software) with GST (Goods and Services Tax) for commerce students heading to accounts work, DCA (Diploma in Computer Applications) or ADCA (Advanced Diploma in Computer Applications) for office roles, and a degree for a long technical career.
- Courses with the same name are different products. As of October 2026, two ADCA courses were priced at ₹6,999 and ₹16,500, with different inclusions. Compare what is in the fee and the total hours, not the crossed-out "regular price".
- CCC (Course on Computer Concepts) is the certificate issued by NIELIT (National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology), a government body. Its exam fee is ₹500 plus GST, ₹590 at 18% GST, and each institute charges its own training fee on top.
- Before paying, get the total cost, total hours, certificate issuer and refund terms in writing, and run the six checks below.

Regular-mode enrolment in BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications) rose from 4,32,382 students in 2017-18 to 5,70,504 in 2021-22, about 32% by our calculation (5,70,504 ÷ 4,32,382). The figures are in Box 11 of the Ministry of Education's All India Survey on Higher Education 2021-22, released in 2024.
A degree is only one road after Class 12. The other is a short diploma or certificate, and there the course name tells you little. Two courses with the same name can teach different things at very different prices. Your stream also decides which degrees are open to you.
This page matches stream to course, shows what providers charge with the arithmetic, and gives six checks to run before you pay. Every price is dated October 2026, because institute fees change. Online Coaching 4u is a directory, not a course provider, so none of these courses is ours to sell.
Which computer course should you do after 12th: by stream and goal?
Choose by the job you want in the next year. Commerce students aiming at accounts work do best with Tally Prime with GST. Anyone aiming at office, data-entry or computer-operator roles can take DCA or ADCA. A recruitment notice that names a computer certificate points to CCC. A long technical career points to a degree.

| Your situation | Course that fits | Length on provider pages | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commerce, want an accounts or billing job soon | Tally Prime with GST | 4 to 12 weeks, by batch | Total hours, the GST module, software version |
| Any stream, want office, data-entry or computer-operator work | DCA or ADCA | DCA 6 months to 1 year; ADCA 12 months | The syllabus lines, not the course name |
| A recruitment notice asks for a computer certificate | CCC, issued by NIELIT | 80 hours | The notice's wording on which certificates it accepts |
| Want to build websites | Web designing and development | 3 months, 6 months or 1 year by level | Finished student projects you can see |
| Want a long technical career | BCA, B.Sc (Bachelor of Science) or B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology) | 3 to 4 years | Class 12 subject rules, below |
As of October 2026, the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) Approval Process Handbook 2024-2027 sets the B.Tech rule in Table 8.4 (page 107). Computer Science and Engineering needs Physics and Mathematics at Class 12 plus one more course from a list of 14 that includes Chemistry, Computer Science, Biology and Business Studies. Table 8.2 (page 103) asks for at least 45% marks in those subjects taken together. A student without Physics and Maths cannot take that route.
BCA falls under AICTE too, since the handbook brought computer-application degrees at general colleges under its umbrella. Table 8.2 sets its entry as a 10+2 pass "with eligibility as per the Affiliating University Admission Policy". The university, not AICTE, decides whether Maths is needed, so read that university's policy before you apply.
Is a short computer course enough without a degree?
A short course is enough to start in entry-level office, accounts and support work, and it adds a skill beside a degree. It does not replace a degree if you want a long career in software. That is our recommendation, not a rule.
If you can afford three years of study, enrol in a degree and take a Tally or web designing course alongside it. If money or time forces you to start earning now, take the short course first and keep a degree open through part-time or distance study.
What does a computer course after 12th cost in India?
On five provider pages from four providers, read in October 2026 and based in Varanasi, Lucknow and Delhi plus HCI, short courses ranged from ₹3,900 (DCA) to ₹35,000 (the top web designing level). Tally Prime with GST was ₹10,000 to ₹11,800. The range is wide because the courses bundle different things.
| Course | Provider | Quoted price | Length | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DCA | VedantSri, Varanasi | ₹3,900 (listed "regular" ₹7,900) | 6 months to 1 year | |
| ADCA | VedantSri, Varanasi | ₹6,999 (listed "regular" ₹19,000); covers MS Office, Tally Prime, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, web design, Python, databases | 1 year | |
| ADCA | HCI | ₹16,500, "a launch offer reduced from the standard ₹25,000"; EMI (equated monthly instalment) ₹1,250 a month; includes Tally Prime and Power BI lab access, AI tools curriculum, placement assistance | 12 months | |
| Web designing | VedantSri, Varanasi | ₹7,900 to ₹35,000 across its levels; HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, WordPress, PHP and MySQL | 3 months, 6 months or 1 year | |
| Tally Prime with GST | Aptech, Lucknow | ₹10,000 (₹1,000 registration plus ₹9,000), GST module included | About 2.5 months, 105+ hours | |
| Tally with GST | HTS India, Delhi | ₹11,800 | 4 to 8 weeks or 8 to 12 weeks by batch, 40+ hours | |
| CCC | NIELIT | Exam ₹500 plus GST; training fee set by each institute | 80 hours | |
| BCA | Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh | ₹26,264 (first semester), ₹25,748 (third), ₹25,748 (fifth), session 2023-24 | 3 years |
For fees at private BCA colleges, read each college's own fee page. HTS India's page does not say whether ₹11,800 includes GST, so ask.
Our working from those quotes (our model, not official figures):
- Tally cost per class hour. Aptech: ₹10,000 ÷ 105 hours is about ₹95 an hour or less. HTS India: ₹11,800 ÷ 40 hours is ₹295 an hour or less. Both pages say "or more" hours, so these are ceilings. Compare hours, not weeks. Our guide to Tally course fees in India goes deeper on that one course.
- ADCA cost per month. VedantSri: ₹6,999 ÷ 12 is about ₹583 a month. HCI: ₹16,500 ÷ 12 is ₹1,375 a month. The bundles differ (VedantSri adds Photoshop, CorelDRAW and Python, HCI adds Power BI, AI tools and placement assistance), so the gap reflects what you get and does not show that one is overpriced.
- CCC total. ₹500 plus 18% GST is ₹590 for the exam, plus whatever your institute charges for training.
Why is the "regular price" on a computer course advert hard to trust?
A crossed-out "regular price" is the institute's own reference point. It does not show what past students paid or how long the lower price will last. The three quotes above that carry one imply discounts of 51% (DCA, ₹3,900 against ₹7,900), 63% (VedantSri ADCA, ₹6,999 against ₹19,000) and 34% (HCI ADCA, ₹16,500 against ₹25,000).
Each page shows a single date, so it cannot tell you how long the offer has run. HCI calls ₹16,500 a launch offer, which marks it as time-limited. In our inference, plan around the lower figure and ask the institute whether the offer ends before you can enrol.
Ask also whether GST, registration and exam fees are inside the quote. As a hypothetical, a ₹10,000 fee with 18% GST added is ₹11,800, so two quotes 18% apart may be the same fee with and without tax. Put every extra into one total before you compare.
What should you check before paying a computer institute?
Run these six tests, and walk away if two fail. Our guide on using evidence checks before choosing a coaching institute covers the wider version.

- Total cost in writing.Pass: one figure covering fee, GST, registration, exam and materials, given the same way on two separate days. Fail: the price changes between calls or arrives only by voice.
- Total hours.Pass: a timetable showing hours per module that add up to the promised total. Fail: only "6 months" with no hours.
- Who issues the certificate.Pass: NIELIT for CCC, or an institute certificate you can verify online while you are in the room. Fail: an institute certificate described as a government one.
- Placement claim.Pass: named employers and the number placed in the last batch, which a former student can confirm. Fail: "100% placement assistance" with no names. Assistance is not a job offer.
- Refund terms.
Pass: written terms before you pay, covering what you get back and by when. Fail: "we will see later". Our page on checking a coaching refund policy in writing shows what to ask for.
- A trial class and a look at the lab.Pass: you sit a class, see the machines and see the current software, such as TallyPrime. Fail: pressure to pay today.
How can you compare computer institutes on Online Coaching 4u?
Shortlist two or three institutes on Online Coaching 4u, then run the six checks on each. We list computer-training providers for DCA, ADCA, Tally, web development and AI tools. You can browse by city, study mode and verification status, and profiles show courses, location, mode, ratings and reviews. Browsing, comparing and sending an enquiry cost students nothing.
A Verified badge means the institute shared its details with us and we confirmed it exists through trusted online sources. It is not a promise of teaching quality; our page on what a verified coaching institute means explains the limits. Students contact providers through an enquiry or callback request, then settle fees, batches, faculty, duration and refund terms with the provider directly.
