CUET Coaching Online: How to Judge Cost and Coverage
CUET coaching online should be judged by cost per taught paper, the total fee divided by the papers a course actually teaches, not by headline fee. Check coverage of your papers first.
Updated 9 Oct 2026

Key takeaways
- In the 2026 cycle you could sit up to five papers, chosen by your target university's eligibility rules. The first test of any course is whether it teaches the papers you will actually take.
- Language and General Aptitude Test (GAT) papers reward practised technique, where classes can help. Domain (subject) papers follow the NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) textbooks, where a mock-test series may be enough.
- Compare totals including Goods and Services Tax (GST), and read refund terms first. IMS Learning Resources (IMS), whose CUET 2027 batch is the worked example here, gives no refund under any circumstances.
- Before paying, get the cycle, the refund terms and a trial test in writing, and read NTA's 2027 bulletin when it appears.

A General-category candidate paid the National Testing Agency (NTA) ₹1,800 to sit five Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG) papers in 2026, according to the CUET UG 2026 Information Bulletin. As of 9 October 2026, NTA has not published the CUET UG 2027 bulletin on its public notices page. The fees, five-paper limit and format on this page are from the 2026 bulletin and may change.
The exam fee is the smaller issue. Some courses are built from separate parts: classes for some papers, recorded lessons for others, mock tests for the rest. Which of your papers gets which part decides whether a fee is fair.
This page prices a course against the exam and matches it to the papers your target course needs. It ends with a worksheet that turns any quote into a cost per taught paper. Prices are dated October 2026, and the method holds when they change.
What does CUET coaching online cost compared with the exam itself?
Online CUET courses have no single typical price, and the worked example here is one provider's batch, an illustration and not a market average. As of October 2026, IMS lists its CUET 2027 online batch at ₹19,000 plus 18% GST of ₹3,420, a list price of ₹22,420.
That is the price before discounts. IMS lists discounts of up to 30%, including a 30% loyalty scholarship for past IMS students, so a past student pays less. The listed batch began on 26 September 2026.
The exam's own fee is set by NTA and varies by category. These totals are our working from the 2026 bulletin: the fee for up to three subjects plus the per-subject fee for the fourth and fifth.
| Category (2026 fees) | Up to 3 subjects | Each extra subject | Five subjects |
|---|---|---|---|
| General | ₹1,000 | ₹400 | ₹1,800 |
| OBC-NCL (Other Backward Classes, non-creamy layer) or EWS (Economically Weaker Section) | ₹900 | ₹375 | ₹1,650 |
| SC/ST (Scheduled Castes/Tribes), PwD (persons with disabilities) or third gender | ₹800 | ₹350 | ₹1,500 |
Against the 2026 fee, the IMS list price is ₹22,420 ÷ ₹1,800, about 12.5 times a General-category five-subject fee. That is our working, comparing a 2027-cycle course with the latest published exam fee, because the 2027 fee is not yet out. It is not a verdict on one batch. It shows how much a course adds to the exam cost, a useful question to put to any quote.
Compare totals, not sticker prices. Add GST, materials and any discount you qualify for, and ask whether a booking token is charged and whether it is deducted from the final fee. Our coaching fee comparison calculator lays several quotes side by side so the extras are not missed.
Which papers does CUET coaching online need to teach you?
Your target course decides the papers, not the coaching. In the 2026 cycle, candidates could choose up to five papers, languages and GAT included. The bulletin told them to choose by the eligibility criteria of the programme at the university they want, irrespective of the subjects they took in Class 12.
The 2026 bulletin set one format for every paper:
- 50 questions, all compulsory, in 60 minutes on a computer-based test (CBT).
- +5 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one, so each paper is worth 250 marks and five papers 1,250.
- Language papers test reading comprehension, literary aptitude and vocabulary.
- GAT covers general knowledge, current affairs, mental ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning, and logical and analytical reasoning.
- Domain papers follow the NCERT syllabus.
Each cycle has its own bulletin, so read the current one before you plan.
Our recommendation follows from this. Language and GAT papers reward practised technique, which is where classes can help. Domain papers rest on textbooks you may already study for your boards, so for many students timed mocks and revision cover them. That is a judgement, not a rule. A domain you have not studied in school is the exception, and there classes may earn their fee.

How does one online CUET course, the IMS batch, leave some papers uncovered?
IMS's CUET 2027 batch teaches English and GAT in 65 online sessions and Maths through recorded content, so a student whose other papers are different domains receives mock tests for them at best. This is one batch examined closely. Other courses are built differently, so put the same questions to every quote.
The IMS page also lists 10 mock tests for each of English, the General Test and four domain papers. IMS calls these its own mock tests SIMCUETs. It adds practice questions, a static general knowledge book and four one-on-one mentoring sessions.
Take a student whose five papers are English, GAT, Economics, Business Studies and Accountancy. The sessions cover two of those papers, and none of the three domains has classes or recorded lessons. Whether they get mocks depends on which four domains IMS tests, so that is a question to ask before paying.
Here is the working behind the worksheet below. It is our model, not an official figure, and it uses the list price of ₹22,420:
- Taught papers are those with classes or recorded lessons. For English, GAT and Maths that is three, so ₹22,420 ÷ 3 is about ₹7,473 per taught paper.
- For the five-paper student above, taught papers are two, so ₹22,420 ÷ 2 is ₹11,210 per taught paper.
Both figures ignore mocks, mentoring and discounts. The fee does not change; what it buys for you does.
How do you check an online CUET course before paying?
Run five checks in order and write the answers down. Each has a pass and a fail. Cost per taught paper, used in the third check, is the total fee including GST divided by the number of papers the course teaches with classes or recorded lessons.
Which papers do you need?
List up to five papers from your target university's eligibility page for your degree. Pass: every paper is named on that page for your degree. Fail: you picked papers because a course bundles them.
What does the course teach for each paper?
Copy this table and mark each paper Classes, Recorded lessons, Mocks, or blank.
| Paper | Classes | Recorded lessons | Mock tests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Language 1 | |||
| GAT | |||
| Domain 1 | |||
| Domain 2 | |||
| Domain 3 |
Pass: every language paper and GAT has classes or recorded lessons, and every domain paper has at least mocks. Fail: any paper is blank.
What is the cost per taught paper?
Work out two numbers:
- Cost per taught paper = (fee + GST) ÷ number of papers with classes or recorded lessons.
- Cost against the exam = total fee ÷ your category's five-paper exam fee (the 2026 figures in the table above until NTA publishes the 2027 fee).
Pass: you compared two courses on the same papers. Fail: you compared fees across courses that cover different papers. A lower number is not better if coverage differs.
Does the course name its cycle and its refund terms?
Pass: the cycle (for example CUET 2027) is on the page, and the written refund terms say what is refunded if NTA changes the number of papers or the duration, by when, and how much is deducted. Fail: you can only get an answer by phone, or the terms exclude refunds. IMS's CUET 2027 page states that "no refund will be provided under any circumstances" (as of October 2026), so a refund guarantee cannot be assumed there or anywhere else. Our guide to getting coaching refund terms in writing lists what to ask before you pay.
Can you test it before you pay?
Pass: you sat a timed full-length mock and saw question-by-question analysis. IMS, for example, lists a free trial with concept videos, practice questions with video solutions, sectional tests and four full-length mocks. Fail: the first graded test comes after payment. Do you need CUET coaching online at all?
Not necessarily. Appendix V of the 2026 bulletin says sample or mock tests for the computer-based exam are available on the NTA website for hands-on practice. A student who is disciplined and strong in the NCERT books can prepare domain papers from textbooks and timed mocks, and pay for classes only where a skill paper is weak.
Two features of the marking make timed practice matter more than hours of lectures. A wrong answer where a right one was possible is a six-mark swing, and 60 minutes for 50 questions is 72 seconds per question. Practise at that pace and review every wrong answer.

How does Online Coaching 4u help you compare CUET online providers?
We are a directory for comparing coaching institutes. We list online, classroom and hybrid institutes for exam preparation, CUET included. You can browse by exam, study mode, city and verification status, and profiles show courses, establishment year, ratings, reviews and a separate Google rating. Promoted placements are labelled as promoted.
A Verified badge means the institute shared its details with us and we checked that it exists on trusted online sources. It does not guarantee results. Students pay nothing to browse, compare or send an enquiry. You confirm fees, batches, faculty, duration and refund terms with the provider directly, so take the worksheet above to that conversation.
Online Coaching 4u publishes this page. We are a directory and do not sell a CUET course, so we are not among the providers compared.
